Trainer Laughs at Danny Garcia's Comments on Cutting Porter

By Ryan Burton

Shawn Porter's father/trainer is very confident ahead of his son's September 8th showdown against Danny Garcia (34-1).

The fight takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York and will be televised by Showtime.  The vacant WBC welterweight title will be at stake.

Both fighters last defeats came at the hands of WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman who vacated the WBC title as he tries to comeback from injuries.

Both of their losses to Thurman were narrow but Porter's father Kenny believes that his son is the more versatile fighter.

Speaking metaphorically Porter laughed off comments made recently by Garcia about Porter's penchant for getting cut in his fights.

"Listen man, the kid got a gun on each side. He got one in his waist band and he can go in his sock and pull out a razor and as far as the dumb sh*t that Danny talked about, 'Oh Shawn cuts easy. I'm going to cut him,' Danny - I am going to cut Shawn before he goes to the ring. You ain't got to worry about that. It is already taken care of," Porter told

The Porters have been asking for this particular fight for quite some time now and have been interested in making it happen since Garcia moved up to the welterweight division in 2015. Kenny said that it has been Garcia and his camp that had balked at making the fight happen.

"We have been asking for this fight for more than three years. It is absolutely hilarious that he comes out with something saying you got what you ask for. How long do we gotta wait? I know you guys can remember interviews where he was standing in a doorway of a hotel saying, 'I just moved to 147. Why are they bothering me? Why are they calling my name? I just got here?' What the hell? You are here to fight. You came here so fight someone," Porter explained.

[QUOTE=JcLazyX210;18988631]Danny should win this if he doesn't get frustrated. Porter even though was a belt holder is more so a gate keeper. Danny Can bounce back and become a two time champion 147. He's resume even though I hate to…

Shawn Porter has the hunger and desire. You can see it in the way he fights; He exudes passion and confidence. Make no mistake about it. This is far from being a cake walk in the park for Danny Garcia.…

Danny is the more fundamentally sound fighter of the two. If Porter is able to smother Danny all night, it could be a horrible fight... but I think we might catch a mid range shootout until someone is rocked

Porter is a one trick pony. First, there is the bum rush, headbutt, and hold sequence. Then this is followed by the bum rush, headbutt, punch, and wrestle sequence, followed by the bum rush, hold, punch, and headbutt sequence, followed…
