Erickson "The Hammer" Lubin (22-1) closed out his 2019 campaign with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Nathaniel Gallimore (21-4-1). The fight headlined a Showtime televised tripleheader. Lubin won by scores of 99-91 on all 3 judges scorecards.
After a feeling out process, the action heated up in the 3rd round and Lubin was able to stun Gallimore in the 4th. Overall his coach Kevin Cunningham was very pleased with his charge's victory.
With the victory the 24-year-old Lubin moved to 3-0 with 2 knockouts on the year. He stopped Ishe Smith in February and followed that up with a knockout of Zakaria Attou in June.
Lubin has now reeled off 4 victories in a row since his stoppage loss to then WBC super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo in 2017. Cunningham believes that Lubin is now ready to take on the best that the stacked division has to offer.
“I thought Hammer showed that he’s a multi-faceted fighter tonight. He’s got the power that he needs to take an opponent out. He also has the skills to outbox his opponents if he has to. Gallimore’s a strong durable fighter and he’s going to be a tough out for anybody in the division. I think it’s Hammer’s time to challenge any one of the belt holders," Cunningham told BoxingScene.com.
Robert Easter won an unanimous decision over Adrian Granados in the co-feature bout and heavyweight prospect Frank Sanchez opened the broadcast with a shutout of Jack Mulowayi.
