EBU light heavyweight titlist Dominic Boesel is sidelined with an achilles tendon injury and his defence against stablemate (SES) Enrico Koelling on Saturday June 9 is off. The fight will be rescheduled when the next season begins.

Instead, former WBA 154 lb ruler Jack Culcay (23-3) takes over the headliner and face Adasat Rodriguez (17-7-2) for the vacant EU middleweight title. Enrico Koelling (25-2) is now featured on the undercard against an opponent to be announced and Adam Deines (14-0-1) is in against Russian Gasan Gasanov (15-7-1).

The EBU - 70 years old this year in its current format - held its annual General Assembly - this time in Belgrade, Serbia - this past weekend. Super lightweight champ Anthony Yigit was not surprisingly named Fighter of the Year after three successful defences during 2017. Fight of the year was Agit Kabayel´s defence of the heavyweight title against Dereck Chisora and Eddie Hearn / Matchroom was named promoter of the year.

A proposal from the Swedish Federation to shorten distances for EBU title fights from twelve to ten was turned down.

Bob Logist, Belgium, was re-elected as President.
