Lauren Price (Great Britain) fittingly kicked off the women's middleweight Round of 16, retaining her number-one seed following a landslide unanimous decision win over Myagmarjargal Munkhbat (Mongolia).

Scores were 30-27, 30-27, 30-25, 30-25 and 30-24 in favor of Price, who was in control the entire way through. Munkhbat was rocked in the opening round, prompting a standing eight count and with her night never really getting better from there.

Price will next face Athenya Bylon (Panama), who had her way with Caitlin Parker (Australia) in a one-sided affair. Bylon won every round on all five scorecards (30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-25), as the two-time Olympian improves upon her 2016 Rio performance where she exited in the opening round.

Tammara Thibeault (Canada) ended a current four-fight losing streak for her nation following a split decision win over Nadezhda Ryabets (Kazakhstan). Scores were 30-27, 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28 for Thibeault while Ryabets managed a 29-28 nod on the dissenting card.

Joining Thibeault in the quarterfinal round is number-four seed Nouchka Fontijn (Netherlands), who prevailed by split decision over Elzbieta Wojcik (Poland). While knockdowns aren't counted against scores, Fontjin producing one went a long way to sweeping the final round to win by scores of 29-28, 29-28, 29-28 and 29-27 (Wojcik won 29-28 on one card).

Rady Gramane (Mozambique) and Zenfira Magomedalieva (ROC) will meet in the middleweight quarterfinals following separate split decision wins on Wednesday.

Gramane turned away a stubborn challenge from Erika Pachito (Ecuador) to prevail on four of the five cards. All five judges scored the bout 29-28, four in favor of Gramane and one going to Pachito.

The win required Gramane to win the third and final round on four of the five cards. She will next face Magomedalieva, who advanced after eliminating USA's Naomi Graham from competition.

Pooja Rani (India) managed a three-round shutout of Ichrak Chaib (Algeria) to advance in competition. Scores were 30-27 on four cards and 30-26 for Rani, who has a stiffer challenge ahead as she will face number-two seed Qian Li (China) in Saturday's quarterfinal.

Li advanced after eliminating Aoife O'Rourke (Ireland) via unanimous decision. Scores were 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28 in favori, a returning Olympian who won bronze for China in 2016.
