Junior middleweight contender Tim Tszyu believes that he's ready for the top boxers of his weight division.
Tszyu was scheduled to make his American debut on March 19, as part of the undercard to the undisputed rematch between Jermall Charlo and Brian Castano.
Tszyu was going to face Olympian Terrell Gausha (25-2-1) on the card.
However, Castano suffered an injury in training camp and the entire event is being pushed back by a couple of weeks.
According to Tszyu, he will still return in the month of March, against Gausha, but the fight is going to take place in Australia.
“March 19 is [not happening]. [Best case scenario] I will fight the same opponent the following weekend, on a different show,” Tszyu said. “I told the boys to make it happen and I’m just waiting for a date," Tszyu told Fox Sports.
“I’m just ready to go to America, that’s where I’ve always been dreaming about so I want to have a quality opponent in America.”
As the WBO's mandatory challenger, Tszyu is in line for the winner of the Charlo-Castano rematch.
Charlo, who holds the WBA, WBC, IBF world titles, does not believe the Aussie star is ready to face the very best at 154-pounds.
Tszyu is not paying attention to Charlo's position of the matter and hopes to face him in the ring - even if the fight takes place in the United States.
“He calls himself a lion but he’s a little pussycat, that’s all he is,” Tszyu said.
“There could be political stuff involved with [preventing a fight against Charlo] but my main concern is to fight and not to sit around. Whoever, whenever but not wherever - in America.”
