WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman is only a few days away from the biggest fight of his pro career.
On Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Thurman will defend his belt against one of the biggest names in the sport, eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao.
Pacquiao, 40-years-old, was originally the underdog when the fight was first announced - and now the boxer has become the betting favorite.
Thurman has beaten the likes of Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter and several other top contenders - but he's never faced anyone even close to the experience level of Pacquiao - who fought Floyd Mayweather, Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and numerous other former world champions.
Thurman views the fight with Pacquiao as the perfect opportunity to elevate his career to a new level.
Thurman snapped a two-year layoff back in January, when he won a tougher than expected twelve round majority decision over Josesito Lopez. The unbeaten champ was seriously hurt in the seventh round of the fight.
"Is he that kind of legendary fighter where today he can beat an undefeated welterweight like myself or is the undefeated welterweight Keith 'One Time' Thurman undefeated for a reason. Is he really hard for anybody to beat and who better to test me than the legendary Manny Pacquiao," Thurman said.
"I've always wanted to become a legend in the sport. And I've said that there are two ways to become a legend in the sport - one is by defeating a legend, and the other is throughout your career to create your own legacy. I have an opportunity right now to create my own legacy by defeating Manny 'Pac Man' Pacquiao."
