Sunny Edwards will make his professional debut later this month.

The former amateur star, who was with Team GB before announcing his decision to turn to the paid code in June, will make his bow in the pro ranks on September 24.

Edwards is the younger brother of future of Charlie Edwards, who challenges two-time world champion Johnriel Casimero of Philippines for the IBF flyweight title on September 10, and will watch the 23-year-old from ringside at the O2 Arena in London.

The focus of the younger sibling will then turn to his own big night, which will take place in Marbella, Spain, two weeks later, where he will have head trainer Danny Vaughan guiding him through proceedings in the corner.

“I’m really looking forward to my pro debut,” Edwards said, “[and] having boxed for over half my life all roads lead to this.

“This is the chapter of my life that I can’t afford to make mistakes so I’m going to make sure that my hard work shows in my performances.

“I’m grateful to MGM for giving me this opportunity and I look forward to kick-starting my career and pushing on into 2017.”

Meanwhile, Sean Turner, the Irish heavyweight, will have his next fight on the same bill.

‘Big Sexy’, 25, has a record of 7-0 with five early endings and will be looking to advances his ledger to eight contests undefeated before potentially fighting in Belfast in November.
