Steven Butler (34-4-1, 28 KOs) delivered a first-round knockout of Steve Rolls (22-4, 12 KOs) in Thursday’s main event at Casino de Montréal in Montreal, Canada.

The round started slowly, with the fighters initially feeling each other out. But suddenly Butler caught Rolls with a right hand, sending him to the ropes and leaving him out on his feet. Butler threw a few left hooks as Rolls was draped on the ropes, seemingly landing none of them cleanly.

With Rolls failing to respond, referee Yvon Goulet stepped in and halted the bout at 1:05 of the first round.

Butler, 28, is now riding a two-fight win streak since being knocked out in the second round by WBO middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly last May.

Rolls, 39, has now lost three of his last four.
