In Mexico City, former three division world champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley pealed down a sock to reveal an eight-inch scar running along his Achilles tendon on his left ankle.

Shane Mosley (46-7-1, 39KOs) is not offended by those who believe that he has no chance to defeat Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (39-0-1, 29KOs), on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mosley promised to arrive as the same man who knocked out knocked out Antonio Margarito in 2009, and not the boxer who lost lopsided decisions to Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Mexican superstar Saul Alvarez (R) aka "Canelo" and former three division world champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley (46-7-1, 39KOs) face each other while promoter Oscar de la Hoya (C) looks on, after a press conference in Mexico City. Mosley will challenge Alvarez (39-0-1, 29KOs) for the WBC's junior middleweight title on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Alvarez-Mosley is the co-feature to the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Miguel Cotto junior middleweight showdown.

Neither the youth nor the boxing ability of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (39-0-1, 29KOs) is intimidating to former three division world champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley (46-7-1, 39KOs). Alvarez defends his WBC 154-pound title against Mosley on the Floyd Mayweather-Miguel Cotto undercard on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The WBC's junior middleweight champion of the world, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (39-0-1, 29KOs), will go face to face with his May 5th opponent, former three division world champion "Sugar Shane Mosley (46-7-1, 39KOs), this coming Thursday, 10 am, at the Monumento a los Ninos Heroes in Chapultepec, Mexico. Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya will also be present.

Undefeated Floyd Mayweather (42-0, 26KOs) (L) and WBA Super Welterweight World Champion Miguel Cotto (37-2, 30KOs) of Puerto Rico pose during a press conference at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Mayweather and Cotto will meet in a junior middleweight showdown on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez has kicked up the tempo for his fourth defense of the junior middleweight crown of the World Boxing Counil (WBC), against former three-time world champion Shane Mosley on the 5th of May at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Canelo continues his training at the gym "Julian Magdaleno." Edison Reynoso, trainer and athletic director of Canelo Promotions, says the training camp is going great. The team will shift their camp to the mountains of Big Bear, California in the month of March.

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, 21-years-old, is pledging to block potential escape routes - to prevent Shane Mosley from coasting the rounds in order to survive until the final bell, as the veteran did in last May's twelve round decision loss to Manny Pacquiao.

Earlier this week I crossed paths with Floyd Mayweather Sr. at Johnny Tocco’s on the east side of Las Vegas.

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Funny… but this all seems kinda familiar. It wasn’t all that long ago – following a couple desultory performances in title fights – that people started calling for the career head of a certain former multi-division world champion and contender for pound-for-pound supremacy. His best days are behind him, the scribes wrote. He’s going to get himself hurt, the experts opined. Money is his only remaining motivation, the geniuses expressed. Then at precisely the point where it seemed he’d been overmatched to the point of a legacy-encroaching championship-level beatdown, the tables were turned. Instead of riding off into a lumpy-faced sunset, the very same former star summoned past greatness, ratcheted back time and took down a foe thought ready himself to be pronounced elite. Then it was Antonio Margarito. Now it’s Saul Alvarez. And the song remains the same for a 40-year-old Shane Mosley.
