Saul Rodriguez and Mayweather Promotions Part Ways

By Ryan Burton

Super featherweight contender Saul "Neno" Rodriguez Jr. (21-0-1) has advised BoxingScene.com that he has parted ways with Mayweather Promotions and is now a promotional free agent. The 25-year-old said that he left on amiable terms.

Rodriguez was previously promoted by Top Rank Inc. and made his promotional debut with Mayweather Promotions on February 17th, 2017 when he overcame a 5th round knockdown to win a split decision over Oscar Bravo in Southern California.

That fight would be his only fight under Floyd Mayweather's promotional banner.

Rodriguez, who is trained by his father Saul Rodriguez Sr, fought on several Solo Boxeo cards as he climbed his way up the rankings. He scored the biggest win of his young career in November, 2015 when he blasted out the then once beaten Ivan Najera in the first round of their TruTV televised co-feature bout that was underneath the Gilberto Ramirez-Gevorg Khatchikian main event.

The Riverside, Calfornia native hopes to return to the ring in the near future.

IN OTHER NEWS: Unbeaten heavyweight Jean Pierre "JP" Augustin (17-0-1) has advised BoxingScene.com that he is a promotional free agent.

The 30-year-old Haitian fighter went 10-0 in 2017, winning 9 of those fights by knockout.

In his time away from the ring, Augustin has taken up acting and played Gilbert Dele in the hit movie Bleed For This and has finished filming two other movies.

"I'm an undefeated heavyweight ready to shake up the division!" Augustin told BoxingScene.com. "I got power in both hands and when I am not lighting someone up in the ring, I'm lights, camera, action on set!" I have been in three movies and working on a few others. I am ready to take the world by storm."

Augustin, who is nearly 6'4" tall, is a gym rat and is ready to get back in the ring as soon as possible.

"I am in great shape. As a matter of fact I just got out of the gym now," said Augustin.

The other two movies Augustin has under his belt are, Heart, Baby which comes out this summer and he just wrapped up filming Vault which is slated to be released in 2019.
