Ryan Moorhead has vowed to come back better than ever after dropping a decision on Saturday night.
The Liverpool super-featherweight was on the wrong end of a 97-94 points verdict against Maxi Hughes at the Doncaster Dome.
The pair clashed for the vacant Central Area super-featherweight title in a top-of-the-bill showdown on Stefy Bull’s ‘New Beginnings’ card.
In the early stages, it was the former British title challenger Hughes who had the upper hand.
As the fight progressed, Moorhead had spells of success but failed to establish any firm ground in the fight, unable to land anything meaningful.
Hughes looked the fresher of the pair in the closing stages, with Moorhead having to contend with a cut over the left eye during proceedings.
And the referee’s scorecard accurately reflected the fight as it was scored in favour of the Rossington man, handing the Liverpudlian his second loss in the paid code.
But Moorhead was adamant in the aftermath that the paying public didn’t see the best of him.
“[It] wasn’t my night tonight [and] I’m [better] than that,” he tweeted. “But I’ll come again even better.
“Thanks to the team who put the work in with me and to all [the fans] who came [to watch].”
