Ryan Martin: record, next fight and profile →
After almost a year out of the ring, lightweight prospect Ryan 'Blue Chip' Martin, scored a fifth-round stoppage of Rosel Martinez on April 23rd at the Forum in Inglewood, California to improve to 14-0 (9 KO's). Now Martin is looking to make up for lost time.
In the opening bout of the K2 Promotions card, flyweight Seniesa Estrada won a six round unanimous decision over Selene Lopez. Both fighters went right at it from the opening bell, but it was Estrada (6-0, 1 KO) who asserted herself throughout the fight. Lopez (3-5-3, 1 KO) did find a home for right hands to the head, that produced a noticeable lump under Estrada's eye. But Estrada landed the more telling blows, especially in the second half of the fight. All three judges scored the bout 60-54 in favor of Estrada.
It's been almost a year since lightweight prospect Ryan 'Blue Chip' Martin has seen live action. Martin has been sidelined as he was caught up in the mess that was SMS Promotions of 50 Cent, which has basically shuddered it's operation as a boxing promoter.

Boxing promoter and rapper Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson has agreed to release boxer Ryan Martin from his promotional contract.
The next ring appearance for Algenis Mendez will take place in Washington D.C., but everything about his April 1 showdown versus unbeaten Robert Easter Jr. carries an Ohio feel. It’s from where his opponent hails, as well as where the former 130 lb. titlist has landed for the tail end of his training camp, specifically in Cleveland.
Ryan Martin is free at last. Sidelined for the past nine months while held virtually captive by 50 Cent’s bankrupted promotional company, the unbeaten lightweight prospect was finally released from a dead-end contract that had stalled his career. The timing of the news couldn’t be better for the Chattanooga-bred, Cleveland-based boxer who turns 23 on Friday.
Piece by piece, Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson's SMS Promotions continues to crumble. The rapper-turned-failed promoter is attempting to cash in any remaining chips from his boxing venture after filing for corporate bankruptcy, but the fighters he once represented have all lawyered up in efforts to move on with their respective careers. Yuriorkis Gamboa and James Kirkland - the company's two biggest names - have already sought a release from SMS. Joining the mass defection is unbeaten rising prospect Ryan 'Blue Chip' Martin. Not only has he also taken his case to the courthouse after his team has exhausted all other options, but has a firm deadline in place for his estranged promoter to act upon his current contract.
Another huge blow to 50 Cent's boxing promotion company -- because the organization's biggest boxing star, Yuriorkis Gamboa, officially wants out ... TMZ Sports has learned. The former WBA and IBF featherweight champ says he's had issues with SMS Promotions for months ... claiming the company was contractually obligated to deliver 3 fights per year ever since he came on board in 2012 ... but SMS has failed to live up to those terms.
