Devin Haney doesn’t know exactly what it would take during inevitably complicated negotiations to finalize a deal for him to fight Gervonta Davis.

Rolly Romero wasn’t impressed with Ryan Garcia’s use of the Mayweather shoulder roll or virtually anything else Garcia did during his first fight Saturday night with new trainer Derrick James in his corner.

Ryan Garcia has just the opponent in mind for his first major title. The junior welterweight contender has WBA titlist Rolando Romero in his sights and continues to campaign for that to be his next fight. Garcia continued that path after an eighth-round knockout of Mexico’s Oscar Duarte in their DAZN-aired bout above the 140-pound limit on Saturday from Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

It’s been fun to play around with the idea. Two future Hall of Famers and pound-for-pound stars still at the top of their games going at it? Who wouldn’t want to see it? Unfortunately for us, 21 pounds of weight have prevented Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez from jumping into the ring with one another. But, after cleaning up the welterweight division, Crawford is in search of the biggest challenges and paydays. Both just so happened to be associated with Alvarez.

Rolando Romero will keep his crown. For now. BoxingScene.com has learned that the WBA Medical Committee has reviewed and accepted al records submitted by Las Vegas’s Romero, who will be permitted to keep his junior welterweight title. The ruling comes with two specific caveats:

The WBA has extended its own deadline as the junior welterweight title picture remains at a standstill. Rolando Romero and Ohara Davies continue to wait out the process as Romero’s medical records are still being reviewed by the sanctioning body. The reigning WBA junior welterweight titlist filed for an exemption to delay his mandatory title status, citing an undisclosed injury.

Rolando Romero has until the end of business Monday to either show proof of injury or honor his mandatory title defense obligation. A ruling handed down from the WBA Championships Committee called for a 72-hour period from Friday for the Las

Oscar De La Hoya demands answers on the extended delay surrounding the WBA mandatory 140-pound title fight. The Hall of Fame former six-division titlist is prepared to take legal action to protect the rights of England’s Ohara Davies, the top-rated WBA junior welterweight contender who Golden Boy Promotions signed earlier this spring. Davies was named mandatory challenger to current titlist Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, for which a purse bid hearing was indefinitely

Ohara Davies will have to wait a little longer for his first career title fight. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the WBA has delayed the previously scheduled purse bid hearing for Davies’ mandatory title shot versus defending junior welterweight titlist Rolando Romero. The matter was previously slotted to

Ryan Garcia is brimming with more confidence even in the wake of defeat. The goal has remained the same for the high-profile contender, who confirmed his plans to continue in the junior welterweight division. Garcia joined trainer Derrick James’ team to Las Vegas, where he will continue to train after Frank Martin’s most recent win and Errol Spence’s upcoming July 29 undisputed championship versus Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford.
