Dignity Health Sports Park, Carson, California - In his second fight in the United States, super featherweight banger Eduardo "Rocky" Hernandez (28-1, 25 KOs) was knocked out in one round by Roger Gutierrez (22-3-1, 19 KOs) in a huge shocker.

Hernandez made his American debut back in March, when he knocked out Ibrahim Mgender at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio. He recently signed a promotional agreement with Golden Boy Promotions.

Hernandez was ranked at number two by the WBC and he was very close to securing a world title shot, at the current champion Miguel Berchelt.

Coming in, Gutierrez won two in a row after losing back to back fights to Oscar Duarte and Eduardo Aguero in 2018.

The fight started with Gutierrez throwing a lot of big shots, with excellent combinations. Hernandez was taking punches and unable to get off with counters.

During the first round action, Gutierrez landed a huge bomb with Hernandez getting decked hard to the mat. Hernandez struggled to get to his feet and it was obvious that he was physically gone. When Hernandez finally made it up on shaky legs, he fell right back down to the mat - and after seeing that the referee quickly waved off the bout.

This was the first win for Gutierrez on American soil. He lost all three of his previous fights in the United States, with a knockout loss to Rene Alvarado in 2017.
