With the victory, Garcia improves his record to 33-3 with 22 knockouts, with hopes of a return date sometime in January. Garcia is known in some boxing circles for having sparred with a bevy of world class fighters, including the likes of Shane Mosley, James Kirkland, Shawn Porter, Paulie Malignaggi, Alfredo Angulo, Peter Quillin, Gennady Golovkin, and several others, but in 2014 he will be looking for a serious push towards a title of his own.
The WBA has authorized the respective camps for contenders Domonique Dolton and Roberto Garcia to begin negotiations for an interim 154 lb. title fight, Boxingscene.com has recently learned. Former champion Jose Luis Castillo would appear in the co-feature.

Scores were 79-72 78-73, 77-74 for de la Rosa, who hasn’t fought since suffering the lone loss of his career more than a year ago.
