Robert Meriwether: record, next fight and profile →
Although the odds of success for Zuffa Boxing are still uncertain, one thing is clear: The recently launched promotion gave Tony Hirsch Jnr a life-changing opportunity.
Zuffa Boxing signed Tony Hirsch Jnr earlier this year, and Sunday’s fight will give him a chance to prove he is a world-class fighter – without the typical resume seen at the top of the sport.
Two pairs of unbeatens – Alexis De la Cerda and Ervin Fuller III, and Robert Meriwether III and Tony Hirsch Jnr – will square off in the “Zuffa Boxing 05” preliminary fights.
The anticipation, mystery and sporting consternation over the debut of Zuffa Boxing gave way to the simple reality Friday that impassioned boxers fighting to build a career in a blood sport continues to entertain many.
On Friday in Norfolk, Virginia, Troy Isley inched closer to a middleweight title shot with a disciplined and skilled win over Tyler Howard – while Abdullah Mason made a much bigger noise.
Troy Isley’s 10-round bout with Tyler “Hercules” Howard will now be the co-main event on the bill headlined by Keyshawn Davis-Gustavo Lemos on Friday, November 8.
Junior lightweight prospect Robert Meriwether has two fights under his belt in 2024, and although the 19-year-old from Louisville is satisfied with his progress, he wants another fights three before the year is out.
The belief is strong around Robert Meriwether and the 19-year-old prospect has been labeled a future star. Meriwether hopes to continue toward greatness on Wednesday, May 8, as a part of Wednesday Night Fights when he faces undefeated Victor Manuel Lopez Gala from the ProBox TV Events Center in Plant City, Florida – live on the ProBox TV app.
Robbie Davies Jnr. will make his US debut on May 8 against former world super lightweight champion Sergey Lipinets live on ProBox TV.
