Ryan Martin believes in making the most of second opportunities. Martin walked away from his loss to Josh Taylor with a bad taste in his mouth and hopes an impressive win over a former world titleholder will leave boxing fans with the impression that he can still contend in a very competitive junior welterweight division.
A significant part of Xander Zayas’ journey in 2020 including his graduating from high school. Higher education for the 18-year old welterweight has taken place in the gym and in the ring, never more so than the training camp enjoyed for his first fight of 2021. Among those who shared gym time with Zayas at Centeno’s Sweatbox Boxing & Fitness facility in Davie, Florida included a trio of current and former champs in Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, Adrien Broner and Robert Easter Jr.

UNCASVILLE, Connecticut – Robert Easter Jr. boxed well against Adrian Granados during the first three rounds of their 10-round fight 15 months ago. The former IBF lightweight champion then frustrated his handlers when he completely committed to fighting Granados on the inside. Adrien Broner still doesn’t know who he will fight next month. BoxingScene.com has learned, though, that the former four-division champion will fight February 20, not February 13, as originally planned. Premier Boxing Champions’ Al Haymon was still working Wednesday to secure Broner’s new opponent.
Although Showtime and Premier Boxing Champions have not yet announced their Feb. 13 tripleheader it has already seen major changes. Former four-division world titlist Adrien Broner, who has not boxed since a one-sided decision loss to Manny Pacquiao in a January 2019 secondary welterweight world title bout, is still due to return in the junior welterweight main event of a card likely to take place inside the bubble of the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
