Hall of Famer trainer Freddie Roach feels MMA veteran Ben Askren has all of the necessary tools to defeat Youtube star Jake Paul.

Askren and Paul will collide on Saturday night, in the main event of a pay-per-view card from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Paul is 2-0 with 2 knockouts as a pro.

He made his boxing debut last year, when he blew away Youtube rival Ali Eson Gib in one round - and then last November he brutally stopped NBA veteran Nate Robinson in two.

Paul, who is trained by retired cruiserweight contender BJ Flores, is a sizable betting favorite to win the upcoming contest.

After Paul baited several MMA names to face him on Saturday night, Askren raised his hand and embraced the idea of getting in the ring. He quickly signed on to make his boxing debut.

The 36-year-old Askren, a former champion in Bellator and ONE, retired from MMA after back to back defeats in 2019.

After working with Askren for six days, Roach was pleasantly surprised with the mixed martial artist.

“He hits hard; very hard,” Roach said to Yahoo Sports. “He hit me on the chin one day and I can tell you, I felt that."

As long as he doesn't get wild and sticks to a game plan, Roach is giving Askren a big shot at upsetting the odds.

“Honestly, I think he has everything he needs to beat this guy,” Roach said. “But he has to fight the right fight. He knows that. We’ve come up with a good game plan and as long as he sticks to it, I think he will win, yes.”
