Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is regarded by some as the best fighter pound for pound, he's a four division champion and one of the highest paid athletes in the world.

However, his best facet remains to be seen, according to his head trainer Eddy Reynoso.

"Saúl is at the best moment of his career and he is mature, he has a lot of experience, he is young, he does not take punches, so he still has a lot of time left in boxing. Let's hope he continues with the same discipline and the same obedience and he won't have any problems in doing that because he is already a more mature person," Reynoso said.

"I think the best of Saúl is coming. In the second stage of his career, the best of Saúl remains to be seen."

Saúl and Eddy were honored by the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA), as Boxer and Trainer of the Year, the first time that two Mexicans receive this recognition in the same year.

In the face of the global crisis from the COVID-19 pandemic, Canelo is expected to return to the ring in September in a trilogy fight against IBF world middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin.

While he made it clear that there is nothing more than speculation in the media, Reynoso stated that the Mexican superstar could have a boxing match with UFC sensation Conor McGregor - if the MMA fighters steps up to the plate.

"The reports are pure speculation because right now there is no news about anything, there are no fights. Boxing is a business. Saúl right now is the best fighter pound for pound and if McGregor jumps into boxing, then we are going to hit him. What we are not going to do is get into a cage [to fight McGregor]," Reynoso emphasized.
