The Cebu City Coliseum was stunned when Rafael "El Torito" Concepcion (11-2-1, 7KOs) of Panama made good on his promise and stopped undefeated Filipino prospect AJ Banal (17-1-1, 14KOs) in the tenth-round to capture the WBA interim-super flyweight title.

Banal came out with power to push Concepcion back, unleashing combinations that gave him the early edge. Concepcion used his announced strategy of holding Banal when he came in close and then targeting the body with wicked hooks. By the ten-round, Banal appeared to be breaking down from the body damage. A right hand cracked Banal down and left him out. He was unable to get to his feet, listening to the referee count him out.
