Dmitriy Salita, promoter for heavyweight contender Otto Wallin, says his boxer is the "most intriguing" opponent available to face former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua.

Joshua has been out of the ring since suffering a twelve round unanimous decision loss last September to Oleksandr Usyk, who walked away with the WBO, IBF, WBA, IBO world titles.

The British star exercised an immediate rematch clause - but the second fight was put on hold after Usyk traveled back to his homeland of Ukraine, to assist the local military with their resistance against the ongoing attack by Russia.

At the moment there is no end to the conflict - and Joshua will eventually have to take an interim-fight to stay busy.

Walling snapped his inactivity last month in Cardiff, when he picked up a win over Kamil Sokolowski.

"Otto is a Southpaw like Usyk," Salita said to Sky Sports. "Numbers don't lie and according to the stats he landed more punches than anyone against Fury, including (Fury's first against) Wilder and (Wladimir) Klitschko put together.

"I believe Otto has all the skills, confidence - and with the last fight - the experience of fighting on UK soil to beat Joshua. If the fight with Usyk does not happen Wallin vs Joshua is the most intriguing fight in the heavyweight division

"And obviously the cancellation of the Whyte fight with Otto made him that much more hungry for the spot at the top of the heavyweight division."

Wallin, who lost a tough twelve round decision to Fury in 2019, is hoping to secure a rematch with the 'Gypsy King.' Fury will make a mandatory defense of his WBC world title on April 23, when he defends the strap against mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium.
