A mega-fight between retired former pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather (49-0, 26 KOs) and UFC champion Conor McGregor appears to be close to coming fruition. McGregor would lace up boxing gloves and fight in the squared circle if the fight does indeed take place.

The showdown is being discussed for the fall - if McGregor is able to overcome the issue of his exclusive contract with the UFC.

BoxingScene.com recently caught up with former welterweight champion Shawn Porter to get his take on the potential crossover fight.

Porter realizes that financially it's an extremely lucrative opportunity for both athletes.

"To me it makes sense and the reason why I think it makes sense is because we have all heard the phrase if it makes money it makes sense. That is why. We all kinda got used to the idea Floyd was retired until Conor started calling him out of the woodworks," Porter explained.

"I also saw Mayweather say live on ESPN, 'I'm not coming back to fight a boxer but if the money makes sense I will fight Conor McGregor,' so it is what it is."

Even though Mayweather would be a big favorite in the fight and most analysts don't think it will be competitive. While Porter admits that he is very interested in watching the fight, he saw some of the leaked sparring footage that involved McGregor and felt the MMA star didn't do so well.

"Am I looking forward to it? I would say yes. I look forward to see what happens. I think he is going to beat Conor McGregor down but we will see. I saw a leaked video of Conor sparring and it didn't look too good so we will see what happens," Porter told BoxingScene.com.
