Romero came out pawing with his jab in the first round. Davis had a high guard and was cautious. Romero was applying a lot of pressure and jabbing to keep Davis at bay. Davis was using good movement to circle the ring. Romero was able to land a shot at the end of the round, which Davis took.
Romero came out pressuring in the second. Romero was jabbing and Davis was circling the ring while trying to figure Davis out. Romero landed several hard shots that appeared to rattle Davis, who was moving backwards and being defensive while Romero gave chase. Davis landed a good left when Romero was going after him at the end of the round.
In the third, Romero went back to pressing while Davis was circling and looking for counters. They were both taking turns connecting with hard punches. Davis was starting to come on at the end of the round. During the fourth, Romero was still pressuring a moving Davis. Romero was able to land coming forward, but Davis was connecting well with counters. In the fifth, Davis was landing quick shots on Romero, who was staying patient. Davis looked like he may have hurt his hand, at least for a moment, while landing a punch on Romero.
During the sixth, Davis landed a big left hand that sent Romero down hard. Romero got up on very unsteady legs and the fight was waved off.
