"Note: Peterson's beard was considerably trimmed down at the weigh-in"

“Last time I came here with a beard and they made me cut it. It’s no big deal,” he said. “I just grow it for training because it’s comfortable and easy to maintain. I don’t have to keep running to the barbershop getting a haircut.”

Besides his literal beard, Peterson will have his figurative beard tested against Garcia’s power. Peterson knows how important a victory will be for his career should he top Garcia in the main event of “Premier Boxing Champions” on NBC.

“The stakes are high. It definitely will push me to the next level in this boxing game,” he said. “I’ve been at the top for a while, but there’s a difference between being at the top and being an elite fighter. I think this will solidify and stamp me as an elite fighter.”
