Middleweight contender Peter Quillin (25-0, 19KOs) has informed BoxingScene.com that he is likely to return on Oct 15., on the Bernard Hopkins-Chad Dawson HBO PPV undercard at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Quillin is pushing for a sport on the televised undercard with an eye on a fight with middleweight champion Sergio Martinez in the spring. Martinez fights Darren Barker on Oct. 1 on HBO.

Middleweight contender Ishe "Sugar Shay" Smith was on hand at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino Saturday night to witness Amir Khan's 5th round knock out of Zab Judah. Smith payed particularly close attention to undefeated middleweight Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin's (25-0)) 5th round TKO victory over Jason LeHoullier on the undercard. Quillin, who also holds a victory over Jesse Brinkley, has been in the news lately as he has unsuccessfully called out middleweight king Sergio Martinez.
In his continued comeback James Kirkland showed some of the fire that made people believe in his future in stopping Alexis Hloros. Hloros looked as if he would not make it out of the first as an onslaught of punches dropped him twice before the bell rung. The 2nd round was much of the same as Kirkland jumped on Hloros stopping him at 25 seconds of the round. Kirkland moves to 29-1 (26KOs) while Hloros drops to 15-4-2 (11KOs)

Peter Quillin, Gary Russell Jr., Bryant Jennings, James Kirkland, Ronny Rios, Josiah Judah and Jamie Kavanagh will square off in separate non-televised bouts on the July 23 Amir Khan vs. Zab Judah undercard at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
