Remembering "The Contender": Peter Manfredo Jnr’s wild Season 1 journey both began and ended in defeat – but in between, he enjoyed the ultimate redemption arc.

Rhode Island boxing icon Peter Manfredo Jr., "The Pride of Providence," returns to the ring Saturday, November 23 to headline the second event of CES Boxing's UFC FIGHT PASS® year-end tripleheader at Twin River Casino Hotel.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Fighting on just two and a half weeks notice, “Mr. Providence” Vladine Biosse fought to a draw Friday night in “THE BATTLE FOR THE CAPITAL” against “The Pride of Providence” Peter Manfredo Jr. at Twin River Casino.

Ryan Burton catches up with Peter Manfredo Jr., John Scully and Vinny Pazienza, as they discuss Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs. James Kirkland, which is going to take place at a catch-weight of 155-pounds on either May 2nd or May 9th from the Alamodome or the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. They also touch on the super-fight everyone wants - the welterweight unification between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

LINCOLN, R.I. – Jaime Clampitt finally got her storybook ending. Fighting for the first time in three years and the final time in her illustrious career, the Warwick, R.I., veteran Clampitt (22-5-1) faced a tough test against Dominga Olivo (8-9-1) of Brooklyn, N.Y., in the co-feature of Jimmy Burchfield’s “Pride & Power” professional boxing event at Twin River Casino. The two stood toe-to-toe most of the fight with Olivo actually gaining steam toward the end, but Clampitt’s dominance in the early rounds allowed her to finish on a positive note with a 59-55, 58-56, 58-56 unanimous decision win.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The original Contender turned out to be the last one standing Friday night at Twin River Casino. In a battle of former reality-television stars, Providence, R.I., super middleweight Peter Manfredo Jr. (39-7) inched closer to his 40th career victory and won for the second time since returning to professional boxing with a dominant performance against fellow Contender participant Walter Wright (14-4).

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- More than six years have passed since Peter Manfredo Jr. knocked out fellow Providence native Joey Spina on national television at The Dunkin' Donuts Center in what was, at the time, Rhode Island's biggest turf war. As they prepare to face one another again Friday, March 15th, 2013 at the Twin River Event Center in the latest chapter of their longstanding rivalry, both Spina (26-3-2, 18 KOs) and Manfredo Jr. (38-7, 20 KOs) are dealing with the fact there's much more at stake now than there was the first time they fought in 2006.

LINCOLN, R.I. – Nearly one year removed from what he originally thought would be his last fight, “The Pride Of Providence” made an emphatic – and successful – return to the ring Thursday night in front of his hometown fans. Peter Manfredo Jr. (38-8) dominated Pittsburgh, Pa., challenger Rayco Saunders (22-19-2) to earn a 99-91, 100-90, 100-90 unanimous-decision win at Twin River Casino in the 10-round main event of Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports’ “The Pride Is Back” professional boxing event.

Middleweight contender Peter Manfredo Jr. (37-7, 20KOs) is planning to return to the ring on November 29th at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Manfredo announced his retirement last November in Texas, after suffering an HBO televised fifth round TKO defeat to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Prior to that loss, Manfredo had won nine out of ten bouts that go back to 2008.
