Rising middleweight star Patrick Nielsen (14-0, 8 KOs) will return to the ring in Copenhagen on May 19, facing Gaetano Nespro (19-8-1, 3 KOs) on the undercard of the WBC Light Heavyweight World Championship (Silver) clash between Mikkel Kessler and Allan Green. The 21-year-old Dane comes off a dramatic tenth-round KO victory over Gaston Vega at the Nordic Fight Night in Frederikshavn. As the newly-crowned WBA Intercontinental Middleweight Champion, the future is bright for him.

“It was great to win the title and knock out Vega,” Nielsen said. “I will continue where I left it when I step into the ring at PARKEN in front of my home fans. I am already very excited about May 19. Nespro is an experienced guy who has been in the ring with a lot of good fighters. But everybody who wants to beat me will get punished.”

Nielsen´s last fight in Copenhagen – a flash KO over Jozsef Matolcsi in February – took only 11 seconds. “On the one hand it was great to beat him so quickly but on the other hand I would have loved to give my fans a longer fight,” he stated. “Let´s see what the fight with Nespro will be like.”

Also in action will be Patrick´s brother Micki Nielsen (3-0, 3 KOs), former Danish amateur star Torben Keller (3-0, 1 KO), Swedish light heavyweight talent Erik Skoglund (9-0, 5 KOs), Polish KO machine Mateusz Masternak (26-0, 20 KOs) and Norwegian newcomer Simeen Smaadal, who will take on opponents to be announced shortly. “May 19 is going to be an historic night,” promoter Nisse Sauerland said. “Kessler versus Green at light heavyweight, Patrick seeking his 15th victory, an exciting undercard featuring the very best of Nordic boxing plus public viewing of the Champions League final on giant TV screens. This is as good as it gets for sports fans.”
