Oscar Valdez has arrived in the Mexican capital, excited to close a fight with Miguel Berchelt for the month of June, because beyond considering him the toughest opponent of the super featherweight division, he is the only obstacle that prevents him from achieving something that he dreamed of since childhood: to be champion of the World Boxing Council.

Ranked number one precisely by the WBC, Valdez said he doesn't know what exactly complicated the negotiations with Berchelt, but he believes that this fight is easy to make and even indicated that there is a 95 percent progression to to make it happen.

“We were going to fight on May 9, but it was not the outcome. We are waiting, we know that we are 100 percent ready, there have been rumors, but we do not know exactly what's taking so long for the fight to be confirmed. We are 95 percent certain that this fight is going to be done," Valdez told ESPN Deportes.

“What I want is to fight with high-level boxers, with a good name, we are a little tired of fighting dangerous opponent, but nobody recognizes us. I think Berchelt is the most dangerous fighter now, has more of a name and it's a fight that can be easily done since he is with Top Rank.

"Apart from that he has the belt that every boxer wants, which is that of the WBC, so I have always said it from the beginning, it is not personal, we just want to show who is the best at 130 pounds under the WBC. More than money, I'm really visualizing my dream of becoming a WBC world champion, it's something I've always wanted since I was a child and it's my only goal and to try to win this fight."
