Oscar Valdez weighed in at his lowest weight in six years ahead of his ten-round main event Saturday against Richard Medina.

Valdez, a former featherweight and junior lightweight titleholder, and the unheralded Medina both weighed in at 127.9lbs for their fight at Domo Binacional in Valdez’s hometown of Nogales, Mexico. The fight will headline a Top Rank promoted card which will air live on ESPN Deportes, beginning at 10 p.m. ET.

Valdez, 32-3 (24 KOs), is entering the ring for the first time since his sixth round. knockout loss to Emanuel Navarrete last year in their rematch for the WBC junior lightweight title. The 34-year-old has won just two of his last five fights, but is hoping a return to his native country will bring a return to form.

Medina, 16-3 (9 KOs), is a decade younger and was born and raised in San Antonio. Like Valdez, Medina is also stepping down in weight, having last fought as a featherweight in 2022, in what was his first career defeat against Raymond Ford. Medina has since stepped back up in class twice, losing wide decisions to George Acosta and Geo Lopez.
