Bell Centre, Montreal, Quebec, Canada - Fan favorite Oscar Rivas scored the sixth win of his pro career in dominant style, dropping Hungarian heavyweight import Zsolt Zathureczky three times to get the TKO at 2:02 of the first round.

Rivas, who’ll turn 24 next month, scored his third stoppage while making his third appearance at the Bell Centre and sixth straight in Montreal.

The 22-year-old Zathureczky, who’d never fought outside of Slovakia, is now 3-1.

Junior middleweight Kevin Bizier registered his fifth straight stoppage and his 15th straight win with a fifth-round KO of journeyman Mauro Lucero in their scheduled eight-rounder.

Bizier, a highly-decorated Canadian amateur, was delivering a workmanlike beating to his 39-year-old foe for the first four rounds before a headbutt opened a bloody gash over the veteran’s right eye early in the fifth.

Lucero was clearly impacted by the wound and spent much of the subsequent portion of the round pawing at it before going down from a right hand in the final seconds and taking the full 10 count from referee Marlon Wright.

The Mexican native, a pro since 1991, is 41-15-1.

Elieder Alvarez beat a gutty but overmatched David Whittom to a red lumpy mess en route to capturing a one-sided four-round decision in their cruiserweight bout.

Alvarez, born in Colombia and a pro for less than two full years, went the distance for just the second time in improving to 5-0. He controlled the action in all four rounds and battered Whittom across the ring in the late stages of the fourth but was unable to register the stoppage.

All three judges gave Alvarez a 40-36 margin. BoxingScene.com also saw Alvarez a 40-36 winner.

Whittom lost for the 10th time in 11 fights and is now 11-15-1.

Precocious junior middleweight Mikael Zewski added the biggest name to his burgeoning victim list with a third-round KO of trialhorse Ruben Galvan in a scheduled eight-rounder.

Zewski, just 22 years old, dropped his 38-year-old foe with a whistling left hook midway through the third, then watched as Galvan got up, reeled to the corner and took a knee for the remainder of the 10-count from referee Alain Villeneuve at 1:44.

It was Zewski’s first fight in Montreal and upped his record to 10-0 with six KOs after previous outings in Las Vegas, Newark and Quebec City.

Galvan, who’d been in with champions Zab Judah, Paul Spadafora and Jorge Paez among others, is now 27-17-4.

Light heavyweight Nicholson Poulard won his fourth straight bout by pounding out a unanimous 10-round decision over veteran Frankie Santos.

Now 17-3, Poulard weathered a storm in the initial few rounds while his 32-year-old foe was trading, but gradually took more of the initiative en route to winning by three shutout counts of 100-90.

BoxingScene.com scored it 99-91.

The resident of nearby Laval, Quebec hasn’t lost since dropping a 12-round nod to Sebastien Demers for the NABF super middleweight crown in 2009.

That fight was Poulard’s only loss since dropping his second and third pro fights in 2004-05.

Santos, who was 14-0-2 in his initial three years as a pro, is now 17-10-4.

Canadian heavyweight Didier Bence won his second straight as a pro, halting 41-year-old Dwayne Storey in the second round of a scheduled four-rounder in the opening bout of the night.

A multi-time national amateur champion, Bence ended the bout at 1:38 after scoring his second knockdown of the round and third of the fight. He ended the first round by dropping Storey with a thudding overhand right, then dropped him again early in the second before a left hook, right hand combination preceded the stoppage.

Bence won his debut in April with a first-round stoppage of Leonard Collier.

Storey fell to 4-7 and was KO’d for the fifth time.
