Ohara Davies: record, next fight and profile →
From now on, Ohara Davies wants to be recognised for his exploits in the ring rather than his antics on social media and at press conferences. His charge sheet has been well documented, but the focus of Frank Warren’s recent recruit is now about the business of boxing and, as he explains in his first exclusive Fighter Diary, he has perhaps been a little bit misunderstood all along…
WE CAREFULLY MANAGED to prise Ohara Davies from under a double decker last week and handed him a ticket to ride in the thriving super lightweight division. I am delighted to bring him onboard and we can now extend the great thing we have got going at the weight involving Terry Flanagan, Jack Catterall and Josh Leather.
Moments after it was announced that Ohara Davies had signed with Frank Warren, Jack Catterall 'welcomed' his fellow Super-Lightweight into the growing stable. "Would love to smack the dog sh*t out of you," tweeted the Chorley southpaw, who could be a potential opponent for Davies this year.
Ohara Davies has signed an exclusive promotional deal with Hall of Fame Promoter Frank Warren and will make his BT Sport and BoxNation debut at The 02 on Saturday 14th April. Davies, 25, has won 16 of his 17 professional contest and will be aiming to fight his way into World Title contention after a frustrating few months. The talented Londoner has been out of the ring since his explosive sixth-round stoppage victory over Tom Farell in September.
Ohara Davies hopes he can get his career back on track after signing a management deal with MTK Global. Davies (16-1, 13KOs) has been out of the ring since his sixth-round stoppage victory over Tom Farrell nearly four months ago following a contentious tweet from the divisive Londoner last month, which led to a public backlash and his subsequent ring absence.
Junior welterweight contender Ohara Davies (16-1, 13 KOs) has been in the headlines lately, but for all of the wrong reasons. Davies is known for his trash talking attitude, but recently he went a step too far.
Ohara Davies will have to wait a bit longer before lacing up the gloves again after making controversial comments on social media. The London super-lightweight had been set for action in the first quarter of 2018, exclusively live on Sky Sports. But after he made comments to Tommy Coyle, a potential future foe of his, regarding The Sun newspaper, which angered many Liverpudlians as it was seen as a dig towards the Hillsborough disaster in 1989 after the paper wrongly claimed several insensitivities against the people of Merseyside, Davies has been removed from the show on which he was scheduled to appear.
Lawrence Okolie and Isaac Chamberlain will settle their feud on Saturday February 3 at The O2 in London, live on Sky Sports, promoted by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing in association with Anthony Joshua’s AJ BXNG.
Natasha Jonas will fight for the final time in 2017 this weekend. The former Team GB star, who represented her country at the 2012 Olympics in London, had been set to feature on the Sky Sports Box Office-aired undercard to Tony Bellew’s heavyweight rematch against David Haye.
Tom Farrell has insisted that there is no need for concern after his first professional defeat. The WBA International super-lightweight champion succumbed his crown to Ohara Davies at the ECHO Arena in Liverpool on Saturday, exclusively live on Sky Sports. Farrell, who was previously unbeaten, was floored five times in a valiantly brave display, as part of the undercard to Paul Butler’s victory against Stuart Hall.
