Hall of Famer Prince Naseem Hamed has no problem with Tyson Fury's decision to fight former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
Earlier this week, it was officially announced that a deal was finalized for Fury to take part in a cross-sport boxing match against Ngannou on October 28th in Saudi Arabia.
Fury's WBC world title will not be at stake as Ngannou is not ranked and he's also making his pro debut.
The contest will be fought under traditional boxing rules, and Fury's undefeated record is reportedly on the line.
As far as a business move, Hamed loves the idea. Both Fury and Ngannou are going to make tremendous money to take part in the pay-per-view bout.
On the other hand, Hamed - like many others - would have liked to see Fury collide with WBO, IBF, WBA, IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. The two champions were negotiating earlier this year, but they were unable to reach an agreement on the financial terms for the rematch.
"I think it's a great business move, Tyson's proven that he's an amazing champion. But what can I say? For me personally, I really wanted to see him fight Oleksandr Usyk after what he did to Anthony Joshua. His next fight, what does it really mean to us? He's not even fighting a boxer," Hamed told The Sun.
"It's gonna probably be a big fight in Saudi Arabia, but does it really mean anything in the sport of boxing? It is a money fight, it may be a good business decision from Tyson Fury. But listen, Tyson Fury - people have not seen him get beat. He's still number one, he's still the man. So credit goes out to Fury, we like him."
