Jarrell Miller is unconvinced that Daniel Dubois will be able to change from past form.

The outspoken and unbeaten heavyweight was direct in his plans for the former WBA ‘Regular’ titlist ahead of their December 23 clash in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Their clash is part of a massive eight-fight show, aptly titled ‘Day of Reckoning’ and in part described Miller’s plans for his twice-defeated foe.

“Thank you, Daniel Dubois, for being the dummy to sign the contract, because I’m gonna beat yo’ ass,” Miller said during the kickoff press conference Wednesday at OVO Arena Wembley in London. “There’s a saying we have in New York, we smell bitch in him. Once the bitch is in you, it ain’t going nowhere.

“He quit against Joe Joyce. He got beat up and knocked out by a jab by [two-division champ Oleksandr] Usyk. Those are small guys. Well, Joyce is big but he ain’t Big Baby big.”

Miller (26-0-1, 22KOs) clearly referenced the manner in which Dubois (19-2, 18KOs) was counted out versus Joyce and Usyk in separate bouts three years apart.

Dubois took the full ten count versus Joyce in the tenth round of their November 2020 battle of unbeaten British heavyweights. A fractured eye socket aided the cause and required surgery before he returned to score four knockout wins, all inside of four rounds. Included among them was a fourth-round knockout of unbeaten Trevor Bryan to win the WBA ‘Regular’ heavyweight title last June 11 in Miami, Florida.

The reign ended after 14 months and just one defense before he was knocked out in the ninth round versus Ukraine’s Usyk (21-0, 14KOs) in their August 26 title consolidation bout in Wroclaw, Poland. Dubois was arguably cheated out of a fifth-round knockdown which was ruled a low blow. However, he was widely criticized for his passive approach from that point forward as Dubois was dropped twice and counted out in the ninth round of their WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight title fight.

Miller welcomed the step up in class, as he is in search of a notable name during his latest heavyweight tour.

The 35-year-old New Yorker is 3-0 since his return to the ring following a 43-month absence due to back-to-back drug testing scandals. He earned two wins in a span of just 30 days last summer before sitting out the rest of the year while eyeing bigger game.

In his most recent start, Miller scored a sixth-round knockout of Lucas Browne on March 18 in Dubai. He was previously in talks to face Mahmoud Charr in an ordered WBA ‘Regular’ title fight but took the far more lucrative and higher-profile fight versus Dubois, whom he claims to send off for good.

“When you’re fighting a mean guy who’s throwing 80 punches a round, got a good chin, come forward and don’t quit… I’m kicking his ass and sending him to early retirement. Plain and simple,” insisted Miller.

Dubois-Miller is part of a loaded show anchored by the Anthony Joshua-Otto Wallin and Deontay Wilder-Joseph Parker heavyweight bouts.
