Mike Lee: record, next fight and profile →
With hometown sensation Terence Crawford taking over the boxing world, Omaha, NE looks to stamp its self on the map as a boxing hot bed. Legacy Boxing in association with B&B Boxing Promotions presents a night of pro and amateur boxing. From the Ramada Plaza, they present, "The Next Generation", on Saturday, December 12th.
Las Vegas, Nevada - Las Vegas’ hottest new location, the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, will play host to “Knockout Night at the D”, an outstanding evening of outdoor professional boxing presented by Square Ring Promotions and Championship Title Boxing on Friday, May 22 set to air on CBS Sports Network (1:30am ET/10:30pm PT, re-air on May 23, 10:00pm ET/ 7:00pm PT). Headlining the inaugural event is a world-class 10-round lightweight clash between hard-hitting and undefeated RICHARD COMMEY of Accra, Ghana and highly skilled southpaw BAHODIR “Baha” MAMADJONOV of Houston, Texas. The bout will be contested for the vacant International Boxing Federation Inter-Continental Lightweight Title.
Resorts World, Queens, New York - Heavyweight veteran Derric Rossy (30-9, 14 KOs) was too much, too soon for the previously undefeated and untested Akhor Muralimov (16-1, 13 KOs). Rossy outboxed the hard-punching Russian boxer to gain a ten round unanimous decision with scores of 97-93, 96-94, 96-94. Light heavyweight prospect Mike Lee (14-0, 8 KOs) made his return to the ring, scoring three knockdowns to secure a second round knockout of Gary Tapusoa (6-3-1, 5 KOs). It was Lee's first fight since last July's lackluster six round majority decision win over Paul Gonsalves. For Tapusoa it was his third straight loss inside the distance.
- In the broadcast opener, Mike Lee remained undefeated with a six-round majority decision over Paul Gonsalves. The scorecards were an even 57-57, overruled by two 58-56 cards for Lee. There wasn’t much action — each fighter threw less than 200 punches over the course of six rounds. And combined there were only 76 landed punches. Lee landed well in the second, but then Gonsalves turned to boxing and moving in the third, making Lee miss and then picking his spots to land.
The standard playbook for boxing up-and-comers with just 12 professional fights under their belt is to hone their craft anonymously on various regional undercards, waiting for a chance at a high-profile showcase. But with his athletic skills and undefeated record, matinee idol looks, tireless charitable work and Finance degree from The University of Notre Dame, as well as the almost unheard of accompanying level of national attention he brings to a sport that desperately needs it, Mike Lee is in no way your average, every day boxing prospect.
On Friday, July 25, 2014, Leon Margules (Warriors Boxing), Dominic Pesoli (8 Count Productions), Tony Grygelko (Seconds Out Promotions) and Julio Marines (Marines Promotions) proudly present "Conquerors", an ESPN Friday Night Fights tripleheader, to be broadcast worldwide, live, from Chicago's UIC Pavilion. In the night's 10-round welterweight main event, red-hot rejuvenated contender Roberto "La Amenaza" Garcia (35-3, 23 KOs) of Weslaco, Texas, will look to continue his hot streak by taking on hard-hitting and dangerous Breidis "Khanqueror" Prescott (27-5, 20 KOs) of Miami, via Barranquilla, Colombia.
Light heavyweight prospect Mike Lee had been seen in Subway commercials during the past 18 months, but he hadn’t been back in the ring for a pro fight until this past Friday, when he scored a sixth-round technical knockout over a 6-0 foe named Peter Lewison. The win brought the 26-year-old from Chicago to 12-0 with 7 KOs. “There was a time I thought between injuries and contract issues, that I would never get to 12-0. And here I am,” Lee said to reporters soon afterward.

- In the show’s opener, former 140-pound title challenger Edner Cherry, now fighting as a lightweight, took an eight-round unanimous decision over Robert Osiobe. This was Cherry’s first fight since February 2013, when he scored a big sixth-round stoppage over Vicente Escobedo. The 31-year-old Bahamian, who now calls Wauchula, Fla., home, improves to 32-6-2 with 16 KOs. Osiobe, 36, of Ughelli, Nigeria, falls to 14-9-4 with 6 KOs.
