Dan Azeez claimed the vacant British light-heavyweight title as he stopped former champion Hosea Burton in the seventh round at Wembley Arena.

It has been nearly two years since Richard Riakporhe stepped into the ring and the ring rust showed as he took time to warm to his task before beating Krzysztof Twardowski, of Poland, at the SSE Arena, Wembley.

Zak Chelli gained some compensation for his Fight Camp disappointment as he won the latest super-middleweight BOXXER tournament at the BT Sport Studios in London. It was an easy night’s work for Chelli, as he comfortably beat Vladimir Georgiev on points in his semi-final before dropping Mike McGoldrick three times on the way to a second-round stoppage in the final.

Daniel Dubois heads a ten-person shortlist for the Boxing Writers’ Club Young Boxer of the Year award after a stellar year that saw him win the British heavyweight title as well as beat two former world title challengers.

The pair clashed on the undercard of George Groves’ WBA Super, WBC Diamond and vacant Ring Magazine title clash against Callum Smith –– with the winner coming away with the Muhammad Ali Trophy and the accolade of being recognised as the world’s best in the division –– at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium’s indoor arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Zach Parker had no trouble seeing off Geard Ajetovic in Germany. The 24-year-old won every round of eight to improve his unblemished ledger to 16-0 with 11 early at the Baden Arena in Offenburg. Parker, who has starred on World Boxing Super Series undercards of late, is closing in on a title shot of some sort, having made steady strides since his debut in 2015.

Mikael Lawal (6-0, 4 KOs) continues his rise up the professional ranks on Saturday, July 14 at the Baden Arena in Offenburg when he meets Istvan Kun (7-10-1, 4 KOs) on the Zeuge-Fielding undercard.

Mikael Lawal must celebrate the moment when he signed a promotional pact with Team Sauerland. The cruiserweight prospect had had a 2-0 record when Nisse Sauerland smelt potential in him, offering a contract that the parties punctuated in last July. Since then, Lawal (5-0, 3 KOs) has stepped into the squared circle three times, all on the undercards of major World Boxing Super Series shows that were promoted by Sauerland Event.

Heavyweight prospect Otto Wallin improved his unbeaten streak to 19 with a third round TKO win over journeyman Srdan Govedarica. The 27-year-old Swedish pugilist settled his jab early in round one and dropped Govedarica (6-6, 5 KOs) in the second and third frames respectively thanks to calculated left hooks to the body. Wallin (19-0, 13 KOs), who is promoted by Sauerland Event, is on his way to become a challenger for the EBU title this year.

Brian Phillips made a stellar start to his career in the paid code on what he described as a “massive show”. The 23-year-old was set to go four with Kamil Jaworek of Poland, but he made rather quicker work of his man than had been anticipated.
