Former four division world champion Miguel Cotto is still pretty steamed at the World Boxing Council after the two sides had a heated dispute in the days leading up to the Puerto Rican star's defense of the WBC middleweight title against Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez last November.

According to Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, a potential matchup between fellow four division world champions, Miguel Cotto and Juan Manuel Marquez, is very difficult to make because of the financial demands by both fighters.

Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez suffered a slight injury on Thursday afternoon and had to stop his training sessions. The future Hall of Famer expects to return back to the gym next week. Marquez plans to continue at the Romanza gym in Mexico, where he intends to have three weeks of strong preparation to determine whether or not he moves forward with a final professional fight.

According to Freddie Roach, trainer of former four division world champion Miguel Cotto (40-5, 33KOs), the Puerto Rican superstar is very close to revealing the name of his next opponent.

Former four time world champion Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs) has returned to work at the Romanza gym in Mexico, where he begins his training camp without having a confirmed opponent or date.

Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach is shaking his head after hearing Amir Khan (31-4, 19KOs) call for a fall showdown with former four division world champion Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico.

LAS VEGAS – Most of the questions at the Canelo Alvarez-Amir Khan post-fight press conference were about a highly anticipated Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin showdown.

Over the weekend, rumours began to circulate claiming that HBO had reported that IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook had rejected the chance to face Miguel Cotto on June 18. The statement appears to have originated on Facebook and hasn’t been substantiated by any of the parties involved. Regardless, it spread quickly across social media platforms. Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn has reached out BoxingScene to refute the claims.

Juan Manuel Marquez was pleased upon hearing the news that Miguel Cotto was pushing back his return to the fall. The Mexican veteran is very interested in facing Cotto, but he was unable to prepare in time to fight the Puerto Rican superstar in planned return date of June 18th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
