According to Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach, his veteran fighter Miguel Cotto (40-5, 33 KOs) has a lot left in the tank. On February 25th, Cotto will return for the first time since a twelve round decision loss to Canelo Alvarez in November 2015, when he faces James “Mandingo Warrior” Kirkland (32-2, 28 KOs) at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. Cotto was reportedly requesting a catch-weight of 150-pounds, which Marquez believed was too much of a disadvantage. Marquez stood firm on staging the fight at no higher than the welterweight limit of 147-pounds.
Former four division world champion Miguel Cotto (40-5, 33 KOs) still believes that he was robbed in November 2015, when he found himself on the losing end of a twelve round unanimous decision to Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (48-1, 34 KOs).
