WBC middleweight world champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33KOs) is training hard for is upcoming fight with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on November 21st at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

The World Boxing Council has ordered the winner of Cotto-Canelo to face IBO/WBA/IBF champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs). Golovkin, as the WBC's interim-champion, is the mandatory challenger.

If Cotto wins, he is unsure if a fight with Golovkin will actually happen.

"We do not know [if that fight will happen]. People forget that this is a business [and after this fight] we'll look at what would produce the greatest benefit, and if Gennady Golovkin is who offers the best benefit - then so be it. But Miguel Cotto does not need Golovkin to write his story," Cotto told Rigo Cervantez.

Canelo has already stated that he won't face Golovkin unless there is a catch-weight of 155-pounds. Cotto, who never fought any opponent at the full middleweight of 160, is also not willing to face Golovkin at the full division limit.

If Cotto-Canelo winner refuses to face Golovkin, the WBC will strip them and make the Kazakhstan boxer the full champion.

"I am the champion, but I am not a full middleweight. Whoever wants my title, they must fight me [on my terms]. I've been working tirelessly for 15 years and I've earned everything that I've won and everything that I have, no one ever gave me anything."
