Miguel Cotto and Danny Garcia Honored With Awards

The Professional Boxing Commission of Puerto Rico conducted the awards ceremony for the accomplishments of 2013 at the Nimari Santini Coliseum on the premises of the Sports and Recreation Department.

The winners of the awards:

2013 Fighter of the Year: Miguel Cotto
Sixto Escobar Cup: Danny Garcia
Prospect of the Year: Felix Verdejo
Most Improved: John Karl Sosa
Trainer of the Year: Ricky Marquez (Verdejo’s trainer)
Company of the Year: Miguel Cotto Promotions

In addition to the awards  the commission paid tribute to the former President of the Boxing Commission of Puerto Rico Mr. Jose "Toto" Penagaricano whose name was given to the gallery of the 71 Puerto Rican world champions

PR is going through a drought of local champions like the whole US is going through a heavy weight drought. But both in the next few years will come back strong hopefully.
