Michel Rivera: record, next fight and profile →

Michel Rivera has been patiently awaiting his chance to fight for a world title in the lightweight division. However, the Dominican Republic will no longer wait quietly.

Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis was once again trending after his latest in-ring conquest. Not everyone was taken aback by the outcome, though. You can count lightweight contender Michael ‘La Zarza Ali’ Rivera among the underwhelmed from this past weekend’s Showtime Pay-Per-View main event. The unbeaten Dominican was an interested observer for Davis’ eventual sixth-round knockout of mandatory challenger Rolando Romero (14-1, 12KOs) in front of a sold-out and record-breaking crowd at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

MINNEAPOLIS – Michel Rivera knew he was the better boxer well before the opening bell for his eventual win over Joseph Adorno. The unbeaten lightweight contender sought out to prove much more in his recent unanimous decision win, only to find a less than cooperative opponent.

MINNEAPOLIS – Michel Rivera settled for another win on a night he hoped to make a statement. Miami’s Rivera boxed his way to a ten-round, unanimous decision over Joseph Adorno in a battle of unbeaten lightweights. Judges Patrick Morley (97-93), Gary Ritter (97-93) and Tim Taggart Sr (97-93) all scored in favor of Rivera in their Showtime-televised chief support Saturday evening at The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

MINNEAPOLIS – There are two goals in the immediate future of Michel ‘La Zarza Ali’ Rivera. Both are contingent upon his beating fellow undefeated lightweight Joseph Adorno this weekend, as the two collide as part of a Showtime tripleheader this Saturday from The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The bout serves as the co-feature, leading to Rivera’s expectation of advancing to headlining act after this weekend.

Michel Rivera stated Thursday that he is in the type of condition conducive to going 20 rounds if necessary. The Dominican lightweight contender’s fight against Joseph Adorno is scheduled for only half that long, but Adorno doesn’t think 10 rounds will be nearly necessary, either.

Michel Rivera isn’t quite sure when he will land his elusive title shot. The unbeaten Dominican lightweight contender is confident of who he will fight when that day arrives, however. Rivera has tabbed Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis (26-0, 24KOs) to prevail in his rescheduled WBA ‘World’ lightweight title defense versus mandatory

MINNEAPOLIS – The U.S. invasion is officially underway for Tim Tszyu. The first leg of Showtime’s upcoming spring and summer schedule features Australia’s Tszyu atop a televised tripleheader this Saturday from The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The second-generation boxer and current top junior middleweight contender faces former title challenger Terrell Gausha. Both fighters made weight for their scheduled 12-round main event.
