Anthony Yarde, now 26-3 (24 KOs) made an underwhelming start to life on BOXXER and Sky Sports with a hard-fought win over the game Ralfs Vilcans (17-2, 7 KOs).

Before he flew off across the Atlantic to train with Jaron "Boots" Ennis, BoxingScene caught up with the 30-year-old welterweight in an industrial estate car park in Manchester.

Michael McKinson will be aiming to remind his welterweight rivals exactly what he is capable of when he fights South Africa’s Tulani Mbenge on October 19th for the vacant IBO strap.

Chris Billam-Smith’s WBO cruiserweight title defence against Mateusz Masternak will headline tonight’s Sunday night show in Bournemouth but there were six fights on the undercard before the world title action.

Chris Billam-Smith extended his arms and soaked in the ambiance as he stepped off the scale ahead of his second straight hometown headliner. The reigning WBO cruiserweight title clocked in at a finely-tuned 199 pounds ahead of his maiden title defense. It comes versus Poland’s Mateusz Masternak, who was 198 pounds ahead of their scheduled twelve-round main event Sunday evening from the Bournemouth International Center in Billam-Smith’s hometown of Bournemouth, England.

The stage is set for another night of boxing in Bournemouth as local hero Chris Billam-Smith makes a return to defend his WBO world cruiserweight title against Mateusz Masternak on Sunday, December 10th live on Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland and Peacock in the USA.

David Avanesyan will not be fighting Michael McKinson. Not this side of Christmas anyway. Hopefully, negotiations can be restarted early next year because it is a fight that make too much sense not to happen. Two welterweights who have found it difficult to tempt big names into the ring suddenly came to the realization that the best route back into world title contention ran through each other.

Michael McKinson has spent months waiting for his phone to ring. On Wednesday, the welterweight contender got a nice surprise. Suddenly, he was inundated with notifications as people tagged him into a BoxingScene.com article in which the world ranked David Avanesyan all but agreed to take him on in a crossroads fight.

David Avanesyan is plotting a route back into world title contention and the 35 year old Armenian is ready to return to some productive hunting grounds. Avanesyan (29-4-1, 17 KO’s) trains in Newark, Nottinghamshire and has spent a good part of his career fighting in Britain.

Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth - In a junior middleweight scrap, Sam Eggington (34-8, 20 KOs) broke down and brutally stopped undefeated Joe Pigford (20-1, 19 KOs) in the fifth round.
