Audie Attar, the manager of UFC superstar Conor McGregor, expects a fight with Manny Pacquiao to take place in 2021.
McGregor and Pacquiao have both mentioned the possibility of facing each other in a boxing match.
McGregor made his boxing debut back in August of 2017, when he was stopped in ten rounds by Floyd Mayweather at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It was the last sanctioned fight of Mayweather's career.
Although McGregor discussed the scenario of continuing his boxing career, he went right back to the UFC in the aftermath.
He was in the cage back in January, when he knocked out Donald Cerrone in 40-seconds at UFC 246. He's now scheduled to come back this January in a rematch with Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.
Pacquiao, an eight division champion, has been away from the ring since a July 2019 decision win over Keith Thurman to capture the WBA welterweight title.
Talk of a fight heated up when the Filipino star reached a deal to get represented by Attar's company, Paradigm Sports.
As the plan stands right, says Attar, his fighter is going to face Poirier in January and then he wants to face Pacquiao in the next outing.
“As it relates to Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor, Conor has a fight on January 23 against Dustin Poirier,” Attar said to Bloomberg.
“He will be handling business against Dustin first. But, Conor has come out and said he wants to fight Manny, Manny has come out and said he wants to fight Conor. As I stated publicly before, we have had conversations. So, that is a fight we are definitely going to make because both fighters want it and there seems to be an interest from the fans all around the world.”
