Adrien Broner has promised to get revenge on WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana, after suffering an upset twelve round unanimous decision to the Argentine puncher last December at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Broner, who went down twice in the contest, exercised his option for a rematch clause.

A rematch was scheduled for April, but pushed back to a later date. Floyd Mayweather Sr., father and trainer of pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr., would rather see Broner take at least tune-ups before a Maidana rematch.

Big Floyd appears to be siding with Maidana, because he doesn't see Broner as being capable enough to overcome the last fight.

"He’s talking about wanting Maidana right now, but he doesn’t want Maidana right now, he doesn’t want Maidana at all to tell you the truth. When Maidana gets through this time, you don’t got to worry about it because the whole game will be over. I’m here to tell you, he’s gotta do something magnificent to overshadow what happened to him the last time. He’s got to do something incredible, and I don’t see that in him," Mayweather Sr. told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.
