Five division world champion Floyd “Money” Mayweather is happy that social media star Logan Paul is confident about victory.
The two rivals will collide in an eight round exhibition bout on Sunday night from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Their bout will headline a Showtime Pay-Per-View event.
On Saturday, Paul weighed in at 189.5-pounds - nearly 35-pounds more than Mayweather, who was 155.
The 44-year-old Mayweather retired from the sport in August 2017, with a perfect 50-0 record, when he stopped UFC superstar Conor McGregor in ten rounds.
He briefly entered the ring in December 2018, when he traveled to Japan to demolish kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in the first round of an exhibition bout.
Paul, 26, has a single pro fight on his record - with his pro debut taking place in 2019. He lost a controversial six round split decision to Youtube rival KSI.
He believes the size discrepancy, combined with Mayweather's age, will set the stage for a big upset.
Mayweather has other ideas.
“It’s going to be fun. It’s what I do. There’s a difference between being a YouTube fighter and an elite fighter. I’m a fighter and I don’t worry about anything. I’ve been a professional for 25 years and I’ve fought the best and seen every style and I always came out on top," Mayweather said.
“[Logan Paul is] huge on YouTube. He has a huge following. Before I even knew about YouTube, I was huge in boxing. And when you bring his world with my world, man it’s going to be crazy.
“I’m glad he’s got confidence. I’m glad he believes in himself. Last time I checked, all 50 fighters that I faced, they all said the same thing [about beating me]."
