BoxingScene.com recently caught up with former three time champion Ricardo "El Matador" Mayorga who takes on "Sugar" Shane Mosley on August 29th in a rematch of their 2008 fight that won Mosley won via last second knockout.
The two fighters held a press conference in Las Vegas over the weekend and nearly came to blows when Mosley slapped a cigarette out of Mayorga's hand and Mayorga pushed him back.
When asked about the situation, Mayorga said, "Shane is scared of me. I was just smoking a cigarette and he pushed it away. Is he a man? I pushed him hard because men are to be hit. You don't hit a woman but you hit a man."
Mayorga feels that he has gotten inside the head of Mosley and thinks the future Hall of Famer is regretting selecting him as his opponent.
"Before this press conference I don't think he was afraid of me but now I can see it. When I looked in his face I can see that he knows he made a mistake in picking me. He's already finished," said Mayorga.
The brash Nicaraguan is so confident that he said Mosley won't see the second round and that he will separate him from his senses.
"Remember I am saying this now - I will knock him out in the first round. I don't want people after the fight saying that he was already beat up or that it was luck. I'm telling you I will knockout him out in the first round. It will be worth it to buy the fight. I am going to put him in a coma," Mayorga told BoxingScene.com.
