Filipino journeyman Jino Rodrigo scored the biggest win of his pro career on Saturday, knocking out previously unbeaten Mathew Gonzalez, while Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna won his ninth straight at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.

Kasir Goldston overcame an assortment of fouls to prevail in his first pro fight in his home state of New York. The 18-year-old southpaw from state capital Albany earned a four-round shutout of Marc Misiura (2-2, 1KO). All three judges scored the contest 40-35 in favor of Goldston, who spent each of his previous three pro bouts in Las Vegas before making his way back to the East Coast.

Headlining the show, former title challenger Jose Zepeda faces streaking prospect Josue Vargas in a scheduled ten-round contest. Both boxers were well under the junior welterweight limit for Saturday’s main event, which airs live on ESPN+ from Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater in New York City.

Jose “Chon” Zepeda wants a third world title shot. Josue “The Prodigy” Vargas, born in Puerto Rico and raised in the Bronx, hopes his hometown main event is the ticket to title contention.

Edgar “The Chosen One” Berlanga (13-0, 13 KOs), the Puerto Rican puncher who calls Brooklyn home and has 13 first-round knockouts to begin his pro career, will return in an eight-round super middleweight bout Saturday, March 14 at Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden.

Mathew Gonzalez and Cesar Francis remained perfect by scoring stoppage wins in welterweight bouts this past Saturday night at the King's Theatre in Brooklyn. Both Gonzalez and Francis are managed by El Matador Management.
