The possible ring return of former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs) is still undecided. Marquez had recently stated that he desired to fight at least one more, but nothing has been set as of yet.
At age 42 and inactive since last May's decision win over Mike Alvarado, the probability of Marquez's return is looking bleaker with each passing month.
Should Marquez return, his longtime trainer Nacho Beristain wants to see him compete for a welterweight world title - either in a rematch with WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley or a fight with IBF champion Kell Brook of the UK. Nacho warns that a fight with Brook would have to take place in the United States.
"If he returns, I think it should be for a championship. I think it doesn't matter to him whether it's Tim Bradley or Kell Brook, but for me Brook is better, but that would have to be in the United States because I would not like to go to England," Nacho told ESPN Deportes.
Bradley won a twelve round decision over Marquez in 2013, but welcomes a rematch whenever the Mexican veteran would like to get back in the ring. Brook is also very interested in the fight and returns on October 24th, likely against Diego Chaves.
Nacho says Marquez looked very good as of late in the gym, displaying good hand speed, strong combination and his boxing was sharp.
