As previously reported, former four division world champion Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez is looking to have one more fight before retirement. Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs) has been away from the ring since last May, when he won a twelve round unanimous decision over Mike Alvarado at The Forum in Los Angeles, California.

Marquez has made attempts to return in the last twelve months, but a lingering knee injury has continued to delay his plans. Several training camps have been disrupted by the injury.

After months of rehabilitation, Marquez will sit down with his doctor in a month's time and make a final decision on his career.

One fight being mentioned in recent weeks is a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr., who returns on September 12th as part of Mexican Independence Day weekend.

Mayweather dominated Marquez over twelve rounds in 2009.

"If that fight is proposed and the conditions are acceptable, then of course [I would do it]. But we all know how things are done when fighting Mayweather in Las Vegas. In that city the officials protect him, let him do everything. Fighting him there is a burden," Marquez said.

"Look, do you know how Mayweather can be beaten? Only by knockout, and how can you knock out an opponent who does not want to fight, who doesn't throw punches, and hits you with a jab and you may have won the round but they still give it to him."
