It may be winter time in Sweden, but big fights are in bloom for local promoter Fight Life Promotion.

Valladolid, Spain: EBU super featherweight champ Juan Felix Gomez (13-0-1) retained the title with a majority decision over Salvador Jiminez (12-1-1) in an all-Spanish matchup. It was scored 116-112 twice and 114-114.

Icelandic heavyweight Gunnar Kolbeinn Kristinsson (13-0) is back in action on Saturday in Vienna (Austria). Who he will fight isn't clear yet. If all goes well Kolbeinn will return to the US for a bigger fight in November.

Croatian Ivana Habazin (21-4) headlined the Drazen Petrovic Memorial in Zabok, outscored Australian Diana Prazak (14-5) and won the WBC Silver title.

Former WBA cruiserweight king Ryad Merhy (30-1) returns after over a year out in Charleroi (Belgium) and is in against Serbian Dusan Krstin (8-12) who is also coming back after over two years out. This is an eight rounder on a big show promoted by Alain Vanackere and his 12rounds Promotion.

Orebro, Sweden - The first professional boxing event in Sweden for 18 months went ahead tonight (July 10) at Tegelbruket in Orebro promoted by Fight Life headed by Kamran Kabinejad. With strict COVID-19 related restrictions in effect there was only a small crowd allowed with the event streamed live.

The trimmed down EC Boxing will stage their first show of 2021 on March 13 at the gym in Hamburg. On top of the small show is heavyweight Ali Eren Demirezen (13-1) who is in against Jacek Krzysztof Piatek (11-0) with the vacant WBO European title at stake. Don't let the records fool you as this should be an easy win for Demirezen vs his 47-year old opponent. Also on the bill is heavyweight prospect Viktor Faust (5-0), heavyweight Michael Wallisch (18-4) and super lightweight Volkan Gokcek (4-0).

The fight for the vacant European Union heavyweight title between rising French star Tony Yoka (9-0) and Belgian Joel Tambwe Djeko (17-2-1) is now on for March 5 in Nantes (France). The purse bids that were set for tomorrow (Jan 20) are thus off.

Croatian light heavyweight Marko Calic, now 11-1, lost as all experts had predicted to Olympic bronze medal winner Joshua Buatsi (13-0) on Sunday evening (October 4). Calic, who is promoted by Swedish Fight Life Promotions, was retired by his corner as they suspected a broken jaw after Calic had stated in the corner between rounds six and seven that something was wrong.
