Marco Huck Returns on June 16 in Munich, at Heavyweight

By Per Ake Persson

Huck Box Promotion and Petko´s Box Promotion join forces for a show in Munich on June 16.

Topping the bill is former cruiserweight king Marco Huck - now back at heavyweight. Huck fought Alexander Povetkin for the WBA standard heavyweight title in 2012, but lost a close call to a champ who was obviously not in the best condition.

Huck (40-5-1, 27 KOs) then returned to cruiserweight and was last seen losing to Oleksandr Usyk in the World Boxing Super Series Tournament in September of last year.

Promoters Mogens Palle and Brian Nielsen will stage two Danish Fight Nights during April.

April 21, light heavyweight and local hero Andreas "Disco" Lynggaard (5-1) goes for the IBO Youth title in Nykobing Falster against Tanzanian Abdallah Paziwapazi (20-6-2) who replace Emmanuel Martey from Ghana. Lynggaard lost his last fight on points to stablemate Jonas Madsen but it was an exellent fight from both men and Lynggaard thus get another chance

Super lightweight Enock Poulsen co-headlines in a defence of the IBF Youth title. Super welterweight Oliver Meng is featured on the undercard.

April 27,  DFN is in Hillerod Sarah Mahafoud headlines in a fight for the female IBF I/C at featherweight. Also on the bill are cruiserweight Ditlev Rossing, light heavyweight Jeppe Morell, heavyweight Pierre Madsen and debutant Allan Mahfoud, who like his sister hails from Hillerod. Both events will also feature some amateur fights.

Norwegian paper VG writes that WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF and IBO female welterweight champ Cecilia Braekhus reportedly will defend the title May 5 in Las Vegas in a supporting bout to Gennady Golovkin against "TBA". Braekhus, currently training in Los Angeles says "no comment".

Meanwhile, Braekhus´ trainer Jonathon Banks is in Hamburg with heavyweight Adrian Granat, who prepares for the big all-Swedish showdown for the EU title against Otto Wallin on April 21 in Sundsvall.

Nice! Obviously Huck ain't gonna win a world title or anything, but he can be a good test for guys on the European scene. He can fight guys like Rudenko, Pianeta, Teper and Gerber and make for some fun fights…

He's only 33. I thought he was pushing 40.
